Reading fluency is the ability to read accurately, smoothly, and with expression. Fluent readers are able to recognize words without spending time on decoding.   Fluency allows students to focus their energy on meaning allowing for greater comprehension of text.  

Have fun reading!

• Model fluent reading...children treasure read aloud time and learn a lot at the same time!
• Reread text with your child
• Echo read (adult reads section of text while pointing while child watches, child rereads the text)
• Spend time with books that are "just right" for your child!
